Royal Christmas – Festive Concerts
The heartwarming & moving christmas concerts in Charlottenburg Palace have been part of the tradition of the Berlin Residence Orchestra for years.
Probably the most festive time of the year harbors moments of reflection that can be good for our souls, especially in these troubled times . & on both Christmas holidays at a glamorous concert by the chamber music ensemble of the Berlin Residence Orchestra to listen to the virtuoso & touching sounds of Bach, Handel and other composers & to indulge in the peaceful Christmas atmosphere.
In addition to Johann Sebastian Bach's “Close, my heart, this blessed Miracle ”from his Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 will go to your heart by Antonio Vivaldi's“ La Notte ”- his Flute Concerto No. 2 in G minor RV 439.
The“ Christmas Symphony Op.2 No. 12 ”by the Italian composer Francesco Manfredini conjures up one festive atmosphere in the royal hall, which is also reflected in Georg Friedrich Händel's arias from his "Messiah" (HWV 56). "O thou that tellest good tidings to Zion" & "But who may abide the day of His coming" are sung by our gorgeous mezzo-soprano Friederike Harmsen. Alexandra Rossmann is the musical director of the ensemble.
